I mean, as someone who was born and raised in Vilnius, I find that a lot of people either overplay or underplay what's going on here.
Yes, we've made a lot of progress since 1990. Yes, we're still facing some big challenges, like for example getting rid of our mini-oligarchy who got rich not because they're great entrepreneurs but because they were in the right time and the right place after the Soviet crash.
But other than that, we're just a pretty average country, honestly. And so is Poland. We don't have the big gaping issues you'd hear from people in the US (healthcare, housing,) but I wouldn't say we're particularly great at anything either.
So if Britain's really falling behind it's really on them making some poor decisions, not us being amazing.
