The "genius" fairytale is seductive because it offers an easy explanation of the world: he is gifted with above-average intelligence, and that's why he's successful. Therefore, nothing I can do to follow his footsteps.

In reality, success in any form relies on a multitude of factors, including the amount of effort. Even in academic fields where you'd think people thrive because they're smart
