Well, while I do understand your post was written in good faith, the silly $18k/mo figure was what got me into blogging in the first place. As stupid as it sounds, it was Medium’s writer earnings reports that made me even consider it. Like, right now, blogging is bringing the very best out of me. But the bills don’t pay themselves, so I needed to know what I’m in for, potentially. I believe most people aren’t idiots and don’t expect to start making thousands a week into any project, let alone blogging. But it doesn’t mean we don’t need that carrot.
