Yeah I think it’s worse than Japan because when all was said and done Japan found itself a purely capitalistic society, well integrated into the rest of the world. It could produce its Hondas and Nintendos and stagnate gracefully. Sort of transition into into its mature capitalistic middle age.

Whereas China now is this weird hybrid that’s communist to the core but wants to take advantage of all the good things that capitalism can offer. Sounds like a plan for disaster, albeit not an imminent one
